It's no secret around here that I love all things food. Otherwise I would not be as bootylicious as I am, no? I spend my free nighttime hours knitting things and watching the Food Network like it's my job. Sometimes I forget about all of those lovely Discovery Channel spin-offs (it's kind of adulterous, really, since I drive by their headquarters every day-- sort of like being estranged from your spouse, or at least your imaginary boyfriend Mike Rowe... pretty, so pretty...) Well, it's amazing what you can learn on the Discovery Home Channel late at night.
I just got done watching two of the more informative shows I've ever had a chance to watch, just because I was too lazy to change the channel.
Mark my words, people, Kylie Kwong is going to be a huge hit when America catches on to her. I sat watching her show, Kylie Kwong: Heart and Soul, open mouthed, amazed at what I was seeing. An unabashed and fabulous presentation of Asian cooking, presented with all of the style of Giada de Laurentis's Everyday Italian (you know, the one On The Media compared to porn in its soundtracking, editing, and presentation). People, this woman was good. I not only learned how to clean baby squid, I got super tasty looking recipes for duck with plum sauce and stir-friend mussels. That's a lot to get packed into a half-hour. I swear if I ever get to Sydney I'm so going to her restaurant. (And seriously people, I know she got busted for drunk driving, but we've got celebrities and chefs here that have done a lot worse.)
Then, being even more lazy, I left the TV on and got to watch the Manic Organic, also known as Antony John. I learned how to plant lettuces and got a great recipe for a stacked tomato salad with goat cheese.
It is absolutely no wonder at all that I'm in the market for a larger size of pants here people, if that's what makes my night.
