For a year or so now, I've had a wall in my kitchen devoted specifically to the muse of Magnetic Poetry. I remember when I first saw those little boxes of creative goodness when I was in high school-- I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I vowed to make myself a little magnetic poetry shrine somewhere, some way, someday.
Wellllll, fast forward to last year when I had the bright idea of repainting the nasty white cabinets in the kitchen and found myself staring at a quart of magnetic paint at Home Depot. Done, I thought, picturing a wall covered in little word dots. What I didn't picture was how much fun my students would have with it while they were waiting around for their lessons-- every week I get new verse from the kids, and some of them are awesome, hilarious, and sometimes downright scary.
And what better place to show them off than here, so today is the inaugural entry in the Magnetic Monday Poetry category-- every week a new bit of verse from the wall. Enjoy!
