I have only one word for George Lucas after seeing Star Wars EIII:
Redemption.
(Careful--spoilers ahead)
Lucas has finally gotten it right. Somewhere between Episode II and III he finally learned how to direct actors. Not ony was the story pretty tight (it still had its breaks, but anything would be an improvement over the last one), but the characters were believable, and more importantly, interesting in this one. From the beginning revelation of Padme's pregnancy to the final sequence showing Darth Vader's helmet being fitted, Lucas created not just an epic showstopper, but a dark, Faustian story of how even a good man can be forced to the Dark Side.
I bawled like a baby when Anakin killed the padawans. And cheered with all of my super-dork, line-sitting, midnight-showing happy friends when Yoda whipped out the saber to take on Darth Sidius. And when the Wookie picked up Yoda to ferry him to safety. And bawled again when Padme died.
Congrats George. Great job.
